A Christmas Story: The Musical

Hey guys! My name is Caleb or Homeschooled Hero. So, most of you know that I am in 8th grade, if you have read my about page, homeschool student.

In October my sister and I auditioned for a High School musical and we got in. The play is a Christmas Story: The Musical.

Well, last night was the first show. My character in the play was Flick or, the kid who gets his tongue stuck to the flagpole! I really enjoy this part because it is entertaining to talk with my tongue stuck on the flag pole…and the audience sure seemed to enjoy it too!

Yep, that’s me! Can you  believe that my friends left me there while I was stuck???

Last night, I was really nervous because I thought that I was going to mess up my lines. I did manage to get over that fear by remembering that I have done this type of thing before and did just fine. My sister was having the same problem but I don’t know if she ever did get over that. Be sure to check out her blog. Most people know that  basis of the story. The story is about a boy who is just trying to get a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas, you may remember this part from the movie:

I think that I did a good job because the audience seemed to love everything that happened throughout the entire story. My favorite part was when Greg (Schwartz) and I come out of the wings with shark hats on pretending to be sharks. I really thought the audience enjoyed this part of the play.

Later, when we were going home, my grandma called. She said that the play was “One of the most entertaining plays she has been to in a long time.” That really made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We still have 5 more plays to go but, I wish that we had more because I’m really enjoying this!

In conclusion, I think that this play is really entertaining. I wish that we had more opportunities to do the play but because of Christmas, we don’t. Which isn’t the worst excuse ever. In case you were wondering, the play is in Baker County, which is in Macclenny FL. If you’re able to, I encourage you to come. The final day is Sunday.
